Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains what personal information PIP Companion collects, why we use it, how we protect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.

Who we are

PIP Companion provides a preparation workspace for people organising information for a Personal Independence Payment claim. It helps users save notes, draft answers, collect evidence examples and prepare information they can review.

If formal business or legal contact details are not yet final, please use our contact page for privacy questions.

What information we collect

We may collect and process the following information:

  • Account details such as name, email address and login information.
  • Optional profile details if you choose to provide them.
  • Claim preparation content such as health details, draft answers, evidence notes and export summaries.
  • Payment or subscription information processed through Stripe.
  • Basic technical and security information needed to keep the service working.

Health and disability information

You may choose to save health and disability-related information in PIP Companion. This may be sensitive personal information.

We use this information only to provide the preparation workspace. PIP Companion does not provide legal, medical or benefits advice. It does not assess eligibility and cannot guarantee any outcome.

Why we use your information

We use personal information for these purposes:

  • Providing the PIP Companion workspace.
  • Saving and displaying your preparation content.
  • Managing accounts, subscriptions and access.
  • Security and fraud prevention.
  • Support and responding to messages.
  • Legal, accounting or payment obligations where needed.

How we protect your information

Sensitive claim preparation content is protected and encrypted when stored. Basic account details such as name and email remain readable so accounts, subscriptions and security can be managed.

Some account and payment-access information needs to remain readable for the service to operate. No online service can promise perfect security, but PIP Companion is designed to protect sensitive preparation content carefully.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. PIP Companion does not directly store full card details.

Stripe processes payment data according to its own terms and privacy policy. We may keep payment, subscription or access records needed to manage paid features and account access.

How long we keep your information

Account and workspace data is kept while your account is active. You can edit or delete saved preparation content, and you can request account deletion. Deleting saved preparation content does not delete your account, profile, subscription or payment records.

Some payment, security or accounting records may need to be kept where legally required, including for tax, accounting, fraud prevention or security reasons.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location and circumstances, you may have rights over your personal information. These may include:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected.
  • Delete saved preparation content without deleting your account.
  • Ask for your account to be deleted.
  • Object to or restrict some uses of your information where applicable.
  • Contact us about privacy questions or concerns.
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if a privacy concern is not resolved.

What we do not do

These boundaries are part of how PIP Companion works:

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not use your health details for advertising.
  • We do not submit anything to the DWP.
  • We do not share your claim content with the DWP.
  • We do not let other users see your workspace.
